On October 29, 2019, Hon’ble Finance Minister, Smt Nirmala Sitharaman, released a special commemorative coin to honour the 125th birth anniversary of Sri Sri Paramahansa Yogananda. Further to our initial news article on this landmark event (to read full article please click here), we are happy to announce that a limited number of coins are now available for purchase from YSS, only within India. (Please note that we will not be able to sell or ship this coin overseas, because the Government of India has a restriction that does not permit the sale or export of commemorative coins outside of India).
About the Coin
Prominent at the top of the obverse coin face is the State Emblem of India, encircled by “Bharat” in Hindi, and “India” in English. Below that is the coin’s denomination of “₹ 125” coinciding with the 125th Birth Anniversary theme. On the reverse coin face is the widely recognized image of Sri Sri Paramahansa Yogananda. Encircling the image are the words “125th Birth Anniversary of Paramahansa Yogananda” in Hindi and in English.
Presentation
The coin comes in a beautiful collector’s case, which includes a brief description about Paramahansa Yogananda’s life and work, presented in both Hindi and English. For coin collectors, a list of the coin’s metal composition is included.
