Several years ago we shared the following "Prayer for Peace on Earth" with you in our eNewsletter. Because this prayer so beautifully expresses the spirit of the season, we wanted to share it with you again with the hope that you will be inspired to join us in praying for peace on earth. This heartfelt prayer by Paramahansa Yogananda features a guided meditation that all can use to help spread peace and harmony among all peoples and all nations. Warm Christmas wishes reach out to you from all of us in Gurudeva Paramahansa Yogananda's ashrams, and prayers that during this sacred season honouring the birth of the beloved Lord Jesus, you may feel through your devotion and meditation-tuned consciousness the infinite Christ-love that permeated his life. When the heart and mind open to the touch of God's grace that comes to us through those who purely reflect His light, the illusory veil that separates us from the Divine is lifted. The darkness of this strife-torn world recedes and peace fills our being. New hope stirs within us, along with the soul-memory of our true, limitless nature. Such are the ever-renewed gifts of the universal Christ Consciousness.
Diwali, the Hindu "festival of lights," was celebrated for the first time by the United States Congress on October 29.... At the Massachusetts State House, another Diwali celebration took place on November 4, organised by Boston's South Asian Arts Council. Self-Realization Fellowship Swamis Prafullanandaji and Devanandaji assisted Governor Deval Patrick in lighting the traditional lamp.
On December 20, 2013, a road in Sector 62, Noida, Uttar Pradesh, was named Paramahansa Yogananda Marg after our beloved Gurudeva Sri Sri Paramahansa Yogananda. The road naming ceremony was conducted by the Chief Guest Sri Alok Ranjan, Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner, Government of Uttar Pradesh. Dignitaries at the ceremony included Sri Rama Raman, CEO and Chairman of Noida and Greater Noida, Sri K. N. Bakshi, former Ambassador of India, and Swamis Nityananda and Ishwarananda. Sri Alok Ranjan said that it was a great honour for the Government of Uttar Pradesh and the NOIDA Authority to name the road after Paramahansa Yoganandaji. The naming was symbolic of the impact Paramahansaji’s teachings have by transforming lives, with each changed individual contributing to the creation of a better and more peaceful world. Paying tribute to Paramahansaji’s ideal life, he said,“Paramahansa Yoganandaji lived solely for God and for God in all. He has inspired millions of people throughout the world to undertake their own journey to the infinite Blissful Spirit. I feel that Paramahansaji has been one of the greatest saints ever to have walked on this earth.” Paramahansa Yogananda Marg is a 1.9 kilometre-long road parallel to National Highway 24, adjoining Yogoda Satsanga Sakha Ashram in Sector 62, Noida — a hub of many prestigious government and private institutions, as well as residential townships.
